Ohio’s best climbers will compete in the 31st Annual Ohio
Chapter International Society of Arboriculture’s Ohio Tree Climbing
Championship (Ohio TCC) on June 5 at the Walbridge
Park in Toledo, Ohio.
Nineteen competitors will perform five different preliminary
events. Each preliminary event tests a competitor's ability to quickly,
professionally and safely maneuver in a tree while performing work-related,
tree-care tasks. The competitors with the highest scores from the preliminary
events will advance to compete in the Masters’ Challenge. The winner will compete at the international
competition in Lisle, Illinois, July 24, 2010.
Tree climbing competitions are designed to simulate working
conditions of arborists who work in this highly specialized field. Utilizing the highest level of
professional skills and safety, the events provide and promote a competitive
learning environment for those working in the industry.
The competition begins June 5 at 7:30am and will be held near the picnic
shelter in Walbridge Park, located at 2761 Broadway Street in Toledo. Spectators are welcome to come see how
professionals in this field utilize technology and skill, making their jobs safer
and more efficient.
Organized
in 1942, the Ohio Chapter International Society of Arboriculture (Ohio Chapter ISA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting tree care
research and education in Ohio. Comprised
of more than 850 members and certified professionals, the Ohio Chapter ISA
strives to increase public awareness regarding the importance of trees to our
urban environment.
The 4th of July celebration at The Harvard Circle is always a great time - and this year will be no exception. This was the 11th year of bringing families and friends together to celebrate Independence Day.

There are 3 categories: 8 years and under, 9 -11 years and 12 - 99 years. We would like to congratulate the winner of the 2008 Watermelon Eating Contest: Caleb Glonek and Caleb ?(8 yrs & under), Conor Markowiak (9 yrs - 11yrs) and Rosie Tirone(12 yrs - 99 yrs).
Walbridge Park will be rockin' this summer! The Walbridge Park Advisory Board hosted a different Toledo band each Thursday at 7pm in June and July to entertain the neighbors. Families brought their chairs, blankets - some even brought food - and enjoyed the music. Because of the Tree Climbing contest, concerts will begin on Thursday, June 10. The first band will be Three Sheets in the Wind, lead vocals by our own, Henry Pauly.
