This was the first year for this family friendly event. Mayor Finkbeiner asked to WPAB to plan a dedication ceremony for the Harvard Circle Fountain - and we did not disappoint! The artist, Hans VanBovenkamp, was on hand to help flip the switch, and the rest is history.
After the success of the first 4th of July Celebration the Walbridge Park Advisory Board decided to hold the event in 2001. What fun we had! We commissioned a frog from the It's Reigning Frogs campaign. This frog wound up being signed by President Bush when he visited The Boys and Girls club! Our frog was unveiled at the 2001 4th of July Celebration and later auctioned off with proceeds going to the 9/11 Red Cross foundation. (Tom Noe purchased our frog!) We would love to have our frog back - if anyone knows where our frog is, please contact the board.
